Origins

In a few words... I've been hateful, grateful, lost and found, a saint, a sinner, now a father and a son; older, bolder and one day closer to bliss. Heads Not Tails is balance, risk, glory, hysteria or peace. It is a message, a goal, a mission, to become a leader. So go forth and make your mark, lead your passion, your hustle, your dreams. Seek truth, meet conscience, take care of yourself and each other.

I am grateful for bikes, music, arts, design, and history. As a kid growing up in the war driven country of Nicaragua, I can truly say my childhood was joyful and turbulent; thankfully I had a supportive family system to keep me in balance and make sense of it all. Fast forward a few years and school was in: Manipulating lines, painting gestures, recognizing inspiration and taking risk, said my professors; and experiment with digital and visual arts. I walked the corporate line for a while, worked as a pre-press associate, graphic designer, and art director. In high school I designed and printed my first t-shirt inspired by bad brain's album: Quickness, and I was hooked. Music, among other subjects continue to be my inspiration, art is my vessel and the voices in my head have an outlet. My name is Jorge Arce, the wonderful mess behind Heads Not Tails.

What's behind the name? I have designed our logo based on the protector my grandmother was. As history taught me, the image of medusa was used to scare off bad spirits and protect you from evil; just as my she continues to do even after her passing. Over the years many events have shown me faith, otherwise I would not be here or alive for that matter. These days I say live to the fullest, so pay it forward and stay grateful, we are here, present. Start your own movement, become a leader at home, where it all truly begins, and the rest will follow.
